The Department of Chemcial Engineering and the Energy and Geosciences Institute are announcing a new faculty position directed toward improved recovery of natural gas.

Congratulations to Drs. Spinti, Thornock, Smith, and Sarofim on the recent publication of their chapter in Transport Phenomena in Fires, WIT Press.

Congratulations to Prof. Milind Deo, whose project was recently selected for funding as part of the Research Partnership to Sequre Energy for America's Unconventional Oil Program. This work will focus on natural gas production forecasting for tight gas reservoirs and the integration of natural fracture networks and hydraulic fractures. Prof. Deo is partnering with faculty in the Energy and Geosciences Institute at the University of Utah and Utah State University along with researchers at Golder Associates, the Utah Geological Survey, and Itasca Consulting.

The Utah Heavy Oil Program recently released
"A Technical, Economic, and Legal Assessment of North American Heavy Oil, Oil Sands, and Oil Shale Resources".
